… and so we have learnt

http://www.10000-days.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=663&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=15

Music Distributors have become ofay with the use of the internet. Where it is not practical to send a courier of a new release to a radio station, they release a wav file on a supposedly hidden part of their webspace.

After someone has discovered Vicarious here on the Zomba Label Group site, I’m sure the record companies will tighten up their net security and distribution in future. (maybe a VPN, maybe an encrypted download first with a key released on the actual date to decrypt said file – ala Steam distribution for Half Life 2)

But I guess we all learnt a lesson today. Well no, just the record companies did. Tool fans simply get the next installment of their Tool lives a few days earlier than expected.

Whoever is paying for Zomba’s bandwidth will have kittens.

Edit: Please, please, please get the wav file over the MP3. Due to the compression the MP3 does, the vocals come out much softer, and like most of my lossy rips of existing tool stuff, some drums get muted down. Its the little things that contribute to the experience and I can strongly recommend getting the WAV version. Suck it up, its big but its also a few days before the radio release and even then the streaming / broadcast quality won’t be as good as the rips. This song is growing on me much faster than schism did, I definetely didn’t think I’d say that 3 hours ago.

Non-Vicarious Resonance

http://culturebully.blogspot.com/2006/04/tool-first-single-released-vicarious.html

Ok, so I decide to use googles blog search for the first time. I type in ‘tool’ as you do when you try out a search engine. The linked site above I found points to an MP3 of the first single which is due for radio play next Tuesday. Turns out Vicarious was leaked today… whilst waiting for the download to complete I confirmed via fourtheye that indeed it was released.

Toolnavy also confirmed their is a 60~MB .wav file available… searching now.

I won’t comment on it, there is the natural vicariousness of a Tool song that you’ve come to expect, but I will not impose my vicarious faith on you kids. πŸ˜›

And now my ears are ringing. (the non vicarious bit)

Lateralus Tour New York 2002

Whilst watching this concert on Google Video (thanks to hellboy’s Fourth Eye site for picking this up), I noticed the backdrop of the stage looking similar to the 10,000 Days cover. Yes, its work done by Alex Grey?, but now I want to find out more about it…

Yoga Nidra

http://www.yogapoint.com/Courses/Course7/yoganidra/ses1_ind.htm

After attending a speed reading course recently, I was given a meditation CD titled “yoganidra”.

I found it much like hypnotherapy, except much less reliance on you to imagine things and more focus on relaxing your body in a step by step method. Admitedly it was late and I was tired when I tried it, but I pretty much conked out in the first 10 minutes and awoke to the bit which says “you can now wake up to a concious state. You have now finished Yoga Nidra.” Much like the hypnotherapy stuff I’ve used in the past.

I’ve had various people tell me how hypnosis is similiar to yoga and meditation so I guess this just proves, its the same thing with two different names.

10,000 Days to go

http://www.toolband.com/

Ok, so its not that long until Tool’s next album gets released here.

Although dates vary, according to Sanity, the release is Monday 1st May…. 30 days to go πŸ˜€

Being a Tool fan(atic) I can’t believe I took such a long time to post this, but there are so many other good sites devoted to them which update regularly, that if you were a said Tool nut, you would already have known and visited them many times since the album announcement.

… and after the CD there is the tour, rumoured to be sometime in August……… faaaaaaarrrrrrkkkk!!@#$@!@#$#!@!@#$#!!!!!

O p u s D Γ€ i

O p u s D Γ€ i is a much hyped band that I heard about through streetwise. They are being compared to Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, The Mars Volta and even Tool. Whilst I don’t hear the reference to the former, they are being plugged as the next progressive thing and they are beginning to catch on with me too.
To hear some of their stuff go to this link at Download.com for 3 free tracks. Their myspace page also has an extra track that is streamable. Get into it, it’s free :-S

For the moment,http://www.decoymusic.com/are streaming the new album too. Now you too can see if they are better than Linkin Park or not πŸ˜›

Tool: Books: Alex Grey

A poster on alt.music.tool pointed out this little book regarding Alex Grey’s Lateralus work. It is soon to be released.

Amazon gift voucher is spent.

Tool: ‘Schism’ And ‘Parabola’ DVDs Set For January Release

Needless to say I have mine already. JB-Hifi @ Chadstone had some import ones on sale for $17.99. Beats waiting around for tool army to process the online order and ship it.

As for the content, the menu’s have no writing (ala Salival) and the Dual commentary is very funny. The artwork is second to none.

Did Jesus exist? Court to decide

http://www.cnn.com/2006/WORLD/europe/01/04/italy.jesus.reut/index.html

Having just finished a stint of jury duty, I found it funny that this was going to court in Italy. I would like to see what evidence the church will present to prove ‘beyond reasonable doubt’ that Jesus existed in the form he claimed.
